NAVAL CHIEF INTERACTS WITH MARCOS AT WATLAB

Srinagar: On the second day of his visit, Admiral Sunil Lanba, Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (COSC) and Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) accompanied by Lt Gen AK Bhatt, Chinar Corps Commander visited Watlab Ghat today, wherein he was briefed by the Marine Commandos (MARCOS) on their operational role in the Valley.

A defense spokesman in a statement said that the Chairman COSC and CNS was given an update on the various operations and initiatives undertaken by the MARCOS in countering terrorism in and around the Wular Lake region.

The Marine Commandos have also been extending support to civil administration whenever required and act as one of the first respondents in situations like drowning cases, said the statement.

During his interaction with the Marine Commandos, the Chairman COSC and CNS lauded them for their high levels of morale and exhorted them to continue to work in synergy with the Army with same zeal and dedication to defeat enemy’s hostile designs. He also lauded the excellent synergy existing amongst all the security forces in the Valley.
