DC Kupwara reviews implementation of ‘Shehjar livelihood project’

KUPWARA, JULY 21: Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir today convened a meeting to review the implementation of ‘Shehjar livelihood project’ which is supported by Indian Red Cross Society.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, ACR, ACD, CEO, CMO, DSWO, Deputy Director Fire & Emergency, officials from Police and Civil administration and officials from Red Cross.

General Secretary, Indian Red Cross Society, State Branch apprised the meeting that 75 Women headed households of Kupwara district would be identified for imparting vocational training in cutting and tailoring to enable them to earn their livelihood under the project.

The training will be imparted in Kupwara and each beneficiary will be paid stipend during the training period. Post-training linkages would also be provided in shape of tools and equipment.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Kupwara said that Red Cross has been doing tremendous service towards the uplift of the weaker sections of the society and the need of the hour is to augment the Society’s efforts by offering a helping hand in identifying the deserving beneficiaries.
