Jammu, Jul 17: Two government officials and a private contractor in Reasi district were today booked by the Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) for allegedly being involved in corruption, an official said.

The case has been registered against former Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Arnas Pardeep Singh, teacher-cum-incharge head master of Government Middle School Dharian and private contractor Khushi Mohammad for embezzlement of funds meant for school upgradation, an SVO spokesperson said.

Following the verification of a complaint of embezzlement of funds for construction of the building of Government Middle School, Upper Kund, under Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan, lodged by one Nazir Ahmed against the public servants and others, the case was registered, he said.

It was also alleged that sub-standard material was used in the plinth work of the building, the spokesperson said. 

He said the amount misappropriated by the accused conjointly were part of the criminal conspiracy hatched among themselves and in consequence of their illegal act, they have deprived the poor children of far-flung area to have access to good infrastructure.
