The delegation sought intervention of the Advisor to allocate adequate funds out of the Prime Minister’s Special Package for J&K State for creation of assets in the tourism sector so that the carrying capacity of the state is enhanced to meet the flow of tourists during peak season.

KCCI delegation also requested the Advisor to approach the Union Ministry of Railways for running ‘Special Holiday Trains’, on the analogy of Rajasthan, so that the travelers crisscross the valley to enjoy its pristine beauty.

The delegation highlighted the need to immediately restore the Phase-I of the cable car at Gulmarg which was shut down due to cracking of shaft. This they said has caused lot of inconvenience to the tourists who vouch for taking the gondola ride at the picturesque resort.

The delegation also brought to the notice of the Advisor the issue of exorbitant air fare which is acting as a deterrent for tourists to travel to the state.

Flood control measures, transport, horticulture and agriculture were among the other issues raised during the meeting.
