Srinagar 13 July: National Conference Vice President Mr. Omar Abdullah on Friday visited Mazar-e-Shuhada at Ziyarat Hazrat Naqshband Sahib (RA) in Sherhar-e-Khaas, Srinagar and offered Fateha and floral tributes to the 13th July, 1931 martyrs. The Party Vice President was accompanied by Party Legislators and Senior Leaders.

Speaking on the occasion, the NC Vice President said the sacrifices of the valiant martyrs of 13th July laid down the basis for the just and sacred struggle that was fought against autocracy and tyranny by the people of the State. “The martyrs of 13th July, 1931 continue to inspire us to fight for the rights and honour of the people and will be remembered for generations to come. In giving the supreme sacrifice of their lives and in sticking to non-violence, they set an example that was noticed and acknowledged across the world. In their legacy we have to explore our inspiration to overcome injustice with justice and evil with good”, the NC Vice President said.

The NC Vice President while expressing serious concern over the continued loss of civilian lives said civilian killings were unacceptable and said people expected the Honourable Governor’s administration to ensure there is no further loss of civilian lives. “People need a respite and a sense of justice and if we are to rescue the State from the present situation of alienation and turmoil we will have to strictly implement a policy of zero tolerance towards civilian killings. With every loss of a precious life we are pushing the youth farther away into the abyss of alienation and disenchantment and that’s alarming”, the NC Vice President added.

Party legislators and Senior Leaders while paying glowing tributes to the 13th July Martyrs highlighted their supreme sacrifice and said their selflessness would continue to inspire them for all times to come.
