MHRD holds video conference with Secretary School Education

Srinagar: Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD)today held a video conference with Secretary School Education RigzinSamphel regarding the steps taken for “Transformation of Aspirational Districts” programme in two identified Districts of Kashmir viz., Baramulla and Kupwara.

The meeting was attended by Director School Education Kashmir, Dr. G.N. Itoo, District Development Commissioners of Kupwara and Baramulla who appraised the officers about the steps being taken in this regard.

The objective of the programme is to expeditiously transform all 115 Aspirational Districts in 28 States of the country which were identified from these states.

It is pertinent to mention that NITI Aayog is playing a vital role in implementation of this programme and has identified eight Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Education Sector focussing on Learning Outcomes as well as infrastructural (toilet access for girls, drinking water, electricity supply), timely delivery of text books and institutional indicators including mandated pupil teacher ratio.

Earlier Secretary School Education Rigzin Samphel had called a meeting of concerned officers in his office chambers at Civil Secretariat Srinagar. He impressed upon all the officers to take necessary steps to improve the ranking of these Districts and work for the development of Education sector in these Districts. He directed the concerned officers to work tirelessly for the improvement of Education scenario in J&K including Baramulla and Kupwara Districts. He said that we should take this opportunity to improve the Education sector in these Districts.
