‘Div Com Jammu visits JU Satellite Campus:  inspects construction work

POONCH, JULY 12: The Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma today visited Dingla where satellite campus of Jammu University is being established and inspected construction works on academic and residential blocks and girls’ hostels besides land development and fencing work.

During the visit, he directed for establishing a Sericulture centre in the campus and expeditious completion of work on academic and residential blocks besides fencing and land development works for early start of class work.

Pertinently Governor N N Vohra during his visit to Poonch earlier this week ordered release of Rs 1.36 Cr for completion of phase-I of the satellite campus and for making the campus functional at earliest.

During the visit, the Div Com also discussed Rs 84.54 Cr ring road project with the DDC and concerned agencies and also inspected the proposed alignment of the road from Sher e Kashmir bridge to Betaad Nallah bridge. He was informed that project has two components i.e. Rs 40.39 Cr 3.5 KM road and Rs 44.15 Cr bridge over Betaad Nallah. The Div Com directed for finalizing the land acquisition papers and compensation cases where the

proprietary land is involved. It was decided that in first phase of project, the road component shall be taken up.

Div Com also held a review of developmental issues facing the district. The DDC was directed to make new bus stand functional at earliest.

Later the Div Com visited the Fruit Plant Nursery Poonch and took stock of fruits plant material produced there. He directed for installation of solar panels in the nursery. Furthermore, Chief Horticulture Officer was directed to monitor the production of high tech greenhouse quality as well as quantity wise for welfare of farming community. Referring to Poonch being high potential area for growth of Peeca nut, directions were given to enhance its production and also aware the fruit growers about the it.

The Div Com was accompanied by DDC Poonch Rahul Yadav, ACR B A Lone, Director University Campus Poonch, Prof M A Malik, Executive Engineer PWD A S Andhi, Chief Horticulture Officer Sushil Kumar Angurana and officials of the Technical wing of Jammu University and other concerned district officers.
