Srinagar, Jul 11: An Amarnath pilgrim was among three persons killed in separate road accidents in the state past twenty-four hours.

According to reports, an Amarnath pilgrim from Rajasthan died while two others were injured in an accident on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in Pulwama district on Wednesday.

A car carrying the pilgrims collided with a school bus in Awantipora area, a police officer said.

One of the three pilgrims, Savita Devi from Jaipur succumbed to her injuries at a hospital, he added.

A motorcyclist died while a pillion rider sustained critical injuries in a road accident in Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district last night.

According to GNS news agency, the motorcyclist Shabir Ahmad  Khan died on the spot while as the pillion rider got injured after they suffered a collision with a load carrier in Waripora area of Kunzer.

The injured, identified as Abid Hussain Bhat of Sheeri Bala was taken to a nearby hospital wherefrom he was referred to JVC Bemina, Srinagar in critical condition, the report quoted a police officer as having said.

A 62-year-old man was killed when his vehicle met with an accident in Doda district on Wednesday, police said.

An official said that a car (JK06A-2531) on its way from Jodhpur village to Doda skidded off the road near Mohalla Bhata area, 15 km from Doda town, and fell into a 200-ft deep gorge.

The elderly man driving the vehicle, identified as Khushi Ram Rukwal (62), son of Nand Ram, resident of Jodhpur Doda, was rushed to District Hospital Doda where doctors declared him as brought dead, police said.

Meanwhile, an elderly man fell to his death from a moving bus in Bandipora district on Wednesday.

A police official said that Ghulam Mohiudin Ganai (60), a resident of Saderkote Payeen of Bandipora district, died on the spot after he fell down from a moving bus (JK01W-5525).

He said that accident took place when the bus was traveling from Saderkote Payeen to Bandipora.
