Srinagar, Jul 10: A complete shutdown continued today for the fourth consecutive day in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district against the killings of three civilians, including a minor girl, in Havoora village.

Reports said that all shops and other commercial establishments are closed while public transport remained off the roads in Kulgam, Qaimoh, Khudwani and Yaripora areas, though very thin movement of vehicles some private vehicles was reported.

Three civilians – 13-year-old Andleeb Jan, 19-year-old Shakir Khanday and 22-year-old Irshad Lone – were killed after army opened fire on civilians in Havoora village on Saturday.

However, the army maintained that they opened “controlled fire” after they were attacked by a mob and fired upon by “militants” from within the crowd.
