All Educational institutions to remain closed tomorrow in Kupwara: Admin

Srinagar, July 11: In wake of the killing of a youth in government forces firing, the administration ordered the closure of all educational institutions including Schools and colleges in Kupwara district on Thursday (Tomorrow).

Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Khalid Jehangir while talking to GNS said that the all schools and colleges across Kupwara district shall remain closed except in Machil, Tanghdar and Keran areas.

The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to avoid law and order situation in the Valley, he said.

Earlier, a 20-year-old youth Khalid Gafar (20) son of Abdul Gafar Malik was killed after being hit by a bullet allegedly in army firing at Trehgam Kupwara.

A police officer had said that investigations will reveal as to how and under what circumstances the incident took place.

Soon after the news about the youth’s killing spread, massive protests erupted in Trehgam and adjoining areas which were going on when this report was filed. (GNS)
