Secretary RDD calls for effective implementation of ‘Umeed’ project

SRINAGAR, JULY 04: Secretary Rural Development Department & Panchayat Raj, Sheetal Nanda, today called for effective implementation of Umeed scheme under JK State Rural Livelihood Mission (JKSRLM) for the socio-economic uplift of women folk in rural areas.

She said this while reviewing the progress of JKSRLM (Umeed) project in the Kashmir province here today.

Mission Director JKSRLM Bakshi Javid Hamayun, Director Finance RDD &PR SL Pandita, Joint Director Planning RDD&PR Shabir Ahmad, Additional Mission Director Kashmir, Rifat Aftab Qureshi, Additional Mission Director Jammu, Pankaj Gupta, Senior Project Managers Umeed, Block Programme Managers and other officials were present in the meeting.

Secretary RDD said UMEED project is aimed at providing better livelihood facilities to the women especially in rural areas. She asked the officials to work on a mission mode to achieve the tangible results and fulfil the purpose of the programme, besides contributing towards the welfare of the society.

She directed the officials to ensure that project targets and objectives are executed efficiently so that the benefits of the same reach to the rural women. She asked the officers to ensure proper monitoring and execution of Umeed project and its components at district and block levels.

On the occasion, the meeting was informed that about 28512 Self Help Groups (SHGs) have been covered in 70 blocks of Umeed and that 30 additional blocks are being taken during the current fiscal.
