Tourism Deptt reinforces registration process of new, existing units

SRINAGAR, JULY 2:  In order to encourage the establishment of genuine tourism establishments across the State, the tourism department in its new order is seeking detailed photographic evidence of all establishments to ensure they comply with the existing master plan, has dedicated parking space and follows all building codes.

The order signed by secretary tourism R. Sampheal on June 29, 2018 reads that the prescribed authority will ensure that all conditions of the Master Plan (where it exists) of the area are complied with before registering any premises under the Tourism Trade Act.

It further reads that prescribed authority will ensure that no premises found violating the existing building code of the area is registered.

“All the new registrations from the date of the issuance of this order would only be done after a detailed photography the premises being registered,” it further reads.

It says that the photography of the premises would be done from all the four directions and from distance long enough to ensure clarity during verifications.

“The photographs would be important documents in the record of the hotel, guest house in the office of the prescribed authority/ assistant director tourism.”

It further seeks photographs of teams undertaking the inspection of the premises to establish their physical presence.

The order further seeks demarcation of the parking space as per the building guidelines which would be taken as an important aspect of inspection.

It further orders the tourism development authority or the assistant director tourism not to forward any proposal for incentives of any new as well as existing hotel, guest house, camp which stand in violation of the existing building guidelines.

“In order to discourage any violation after the fresh registration, the renewal of any hotel/guest house/camp from the date of this order would be based on a spot inspection to verify that the building guidelines have not been violated. The process of photographic verification for the record at the time of fresh application would be followed again.”
