RAJOURI, JUNE 30: The District Administration Rajouri has brought in technological intervention for ensuring punctuality in government offices and do away manual attendance updation.

A new web-based attendance monitoring system has been launched in the district which is user-friendly, easy to operate and offers a fast compilation of attendance uploaded by all departments thereby enabling effective monitoring of punctuality of employees in offices.

Under the online attendance monitoring system each office is provided with a User ID and Password and after login, the complete details of attendance like the number of employees, employees present, employees on leave and employees on field tours/deputation are updated by concerned departments on daily basis. Attendance of all district and sectoral offices is then compiled by the system and made available for monitoring by the administration at district, divisional and state level. Attendance thus updated shall be cross-checked through inspection by specially constituted teams and stringent actions shall be taken for any misinformation by the departments.

Around 95 offices in the district which are provided User ID and Passwords updated attendance details on the first day of the launch of the online system. This technological intervention has made the attendance updation, compilation and monitoring process easy, comprehensive and timesaving in comparison to cumbersome and time consuming manual process.

The credit for designing this user-friendly web-based portal goes to the highly dedicated team of experts from National Informatics Centre headed by District Informatics Officer Sanjay Puri. The team had earlier designed online portal for the compilation of details of field camps held by revenue and health departments enabling monitoring effectiveness of these camps and assessing their impact on the ground. DDC Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary highly appreciated the efforts of NIC team.

District Administration has already issued strict instructions for installation of biometric attendance in all offices. Both these steps will have a positive impact in discouraging the absenteeism culture in offices which in turn will improve public service delivery.
