ANANTNAG, JUNE 29: The Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Mohammad Younis Malik, today chaired a meeting of district officers, Engineers of I&FC, R&B, PHE, Police, SDRF, and Red Cross to ensure the relief and rescue for the people of the district living in low line and flood-prone areas.

He also directed all the district and sectoral officers to remain stationed at the headquarters and also ensure the attendance of their subordinate staff.

The meeting was informed that 1.10 lakh sandbags are available in District Store of Flood Control Department and ten thousand bags have been issued to AEE, Flood Control, Dooru and Kokernag to meet any eventuality.

The meeting was also informed that 17 Task Force Committees have been made by District Disaster Management Committee Anantnag besides five dewatering pumps are available in MC Anantnag and three pumps in SDRF Anantnag.

Moreover, 17 Fire tenders, 200 tents in District Red Cross Society are also available in the district.

The DC directed EO MC to procure 10 more dewatering pumps. He also directed SE, PDD, Exen PHE, SDRF and Mechanical Engineering Division to mobilize their field functionaries and ensure close coordination with the control rooms’ set up in the Deputy Commissioner’s office and Flood control room.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, ACD, ACR, Anantnag, SE’s of PHE, R&B, PDD, Exens of Flood Control PHE, Irrigation, PDD, all District Officers, Officers from SDRF, Civil defence and Police.
