SRINAGAR, JUNE 28: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan today directed concerned Deputy Commissioners and officers to ensure disaster and hassle-free Shri Amarnathji Yatra -2018.

The Divisional Commissioner made these directions while reviewing the disaster management plan for Amarnath Yatra 2018.

The meeting was informed that adequate SDRF and NDRF personnel had been deployed for Amarnath Yatra duty, in addition to the volunteers of Home Guards and Civil Defence besides qualified Disaster Management Professionals would also be deployed at all stations for smooth conduct of the Yatra. Mock Drills have already been conducted at Pahalgam and Sonamarg areas besides Joint Control rooms were set up in these areas.

Threadbare discussion were held regarding the various aspects of disaster management including the incident response system, various levels of disaster management, different types of calamities and safeguard against them, role of district administration during disasters, oxygen booths at high altitudes, 24×7 medical facilities, food kits, emergency kits, route plan, satellite phones, blankets, transit camps, tents, transportation, metrological & geographical factors, ecological issues and other related aspects.

The Divisional Commissioner stressed upon employing the proactive and anticipating procedure for ensuring smooth and incident free management of Amarnath Yatra so that devotees, which come from all corners of the country, should not face any kind of difficulty.

He directed all concerned departments to maintain close coordination with each agency and concerned Deputy Commissioners will personally monitoring all arrangements and preparedness of various disasters to ensure disaster free Amarnath Yatra 2018.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah, Director Disaster Management Aamir Ali, Director MET Sonum Lotus, Joint Director FCS&CA, Deputy Director Fire & Emergency Services, Deputy Director Health Services, officers of SDRF, SP Security, SP Traffic and other concerned officers were present in this meeting whereas Deputy Commissioners of Anantnag, Ganderbal, Bandipora and Pulwama participated the meeting through video conferencing.
