SRINAGAR, JUNE 26: Chief Secretary, Shri B V R Subrahmanyam on Tuesday reviewed the arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnathji Yatra (SANJY-2018), commencing on June 28.

Financial Commissioner, H&UDD, Principal Secretary to Governor/CEO, SASB, Principal Secretary Home, Principal Secretary, Finance, Principal Secretary, PD&MD, Principal Secretary Health & Medical Education, Administrative Secretaries of the Departments of Power Development, Forest, Ecology & Environment, PW (R&B), Animal & Sheep Husbandry, GAD, PHE and I&FC, Tourism, Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and other senior officers attended the meeting. Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, DC Ganderbal and DC Anantnag participated in the meeting through video-conferencing.

Chief Secretary reviewed in detail the facilities for safe and hassle-free movement of pilgrims  particularly along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and the Baltal and Chandanwari trekking routes leading up to the Holy Cave including road up-gradation  and slope stabilization works, Camps /shelter sheds, health/medical facilities, sanitation, food, drinking water, lighting and mobile connectivity facilities.

Chief Secretary asked the concerned Administrative Secretaries, DC Ganderbal and DC Anantnag to ensure that all arrangements for SANJY-2018 are complete and submit a report by June 27 in this regard. Further, he directed to constitute teams who would based on spot verification, ascertain and report the road condition and the facilities along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and the trekking routes leading up to the Holy Cave.

To facilitate the Yatris, Chief Secretary directed that a small sketch of the Yatra route indicating the road and the trekking path and showing the facilities en-route such as camps, medical posts, toilet, parking places etc should be distributed to all the Yatris, so that they know the nearest service point and do not stray from the permitted route.
