Dr Sehrish Asgar assumes office as DC Budgam

BUDGAM, JUNE 22: Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar today assumed the charge as Deputy Commissioner Budgam.

The young and dynamic officer is of 2013 IAS batch. Earlier, she has served as SDM Gurdaspur and Additional Deputy Commissioner in Punjab.

She has earlier also been on Centre Deputation and has worked in Ministry of External Affairs and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change of Government of India.

Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar, a medical doctor by profession created history by becoming the first woman to top the Kashmir Administrative Services (KAS) exam-2010 in Jammu and Kashmir. She later qualified IPS and incidentally also served as Additional Superintendent of Police Budgam earlier before getting into IAS.

After assuming charge, she directed the officers to ensure prompt and efficient delivery of various public services to the people of the district. She also said that she would ensure that citizen-centric and public friendly administration.
