Srinagar, Jun 21: Several functions were organised in Srinagar today to mark the fourth International Yoga Day, with Governor N N Vohra stressing that yoga be taught at all educational institutions.

The Governor attended an event organised by the state Directorate of Indian Systems of Medicine and Homeopathy at the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex early morning today, an official spokesman said.

Emphasising the importance of yoga for physical and mental fitness, Vohra stressed that it should be taught at educational institutions and special arrangements be made to teach it to senior citizens, the spokesman said. He said the Governor observed that yoga is a scientific method maintaining the health and balance of mind and body and its techniques have now been reoriented to suit modern sociological needs and lifestyles, thereby helping in mitigation of diseases and promotion of health.
