POONCH, JUNE 20: District Development Commissioner, Poonch Mohammad Aijaz Asad today visited various parts of Subdivision, Mendhar to assess the developmental needs of the area, besides inspecting the projects in pipeline for development of infrastructure and providing better road connectivity in this border belt of the district.
Given the tourism potential of the area, the DDC discussed the plans to tap this potential for the socio-economic development of the locals. He asked the concerned Executive Engineer to prepare a detailed project for construction of PWD huts alongside BG-Poonch road. He said the availability of these amenities will facilitate the tourists and go an extra mile in promoting border tourism.
Later, the DDC inspected Kota-Mendhar road and directed Executive Engineer, PWD to submit DPR for double-laning of the road keeping in view the heavy traffic on the crucial road link.
The DDC was accompanied by Executive Engineers of PWD, PMGSY, PDA, OC GREF, concerned Tehsildar and field staff of various departments.
