Kulgam gunfight: Civilian killed, another injured

Srinagar, June 18: A youth was killed and another was injured in alleged army firing at Nowpora area of Mir Bazar in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday evening.

A senior police officer told GNS that a group of youth pelted stones on army’s 9 RR party who allegedly resorted some gunshots.

In the incident, two persons suffered serious bullet wounds, he said.

Both the injured were taken to Janglat Mandi hospital in neighboring Anantnag district.

A doctor who operated upon the injured told GNS that among the two injured one youth namely Aijaz Ahmad Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat of Nowpora Akhran declared brought dead on arrival.

Another injured namely Rayees Ahmad was referred to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment.(GNS)
