Rising Kashmir editor Shujaat Bukhari shot dead in Srinagar

Srinagar: The General Council Members of Adbee Markaz Kamraz (AMK) held a condolence meeting, under its president, on the sad demise of renowned journalist, scholar and writer, Dr Syed Shujaat Bukhari, who was assassinated by unidentified gun men at press colony Srinagar, Thursday evening, when he was coming out from his office.

A press release issued here said that all the members of AMK were in a state of shock over the ‘martyrdom’ of this great personality terming the loss as irreparable not only for journalism and literary world but also to the entire Valley of Kashmir.

Pertinent to mention that Dr. Syed Shujaat Bukhari has served as president of AMK, for about five years, the press release added.

“It is because of his strenuous efforts that Kashmiri Language has been introduced as a compulsory subject for class 9th and 10th in J&K State. Our all prayers are for the departed soul and the bereaved family,” the press release quoted the president of AMK as stating.
