SRINAGAR JUNE 13: Principal Secretary Finance, Navin Choudhary today chaired a meeting with the representatives of various transporters associations to discuss the revision of passenger fare 2018.

Secretary Transport I M Raju, Transport Commissioner Saugat Biswas, Managing Director JKSRTC Mir Afroz, senior officers of Transport Department, Chairman All J&K Transport Welfare Associations T S Wazir and other representatives of various Transport associations including Bus, Mini-Bus operators, Taxi operators, Truck Unions of both Jammu and Kashmir division attended the meeting.

The meeting held threadbare discussions on the issues raised by the representatives of Transport associations. It was also informed about the recommendations on the survey which was carried out by the Transport Department based on thorough analysis of various contributing factors and consultations with the representatives, which could determine the revision of fares.

After the detailed discussions and keeping in all the concerns raised by the transporters for revision of passenger fare, the meeting finalized the percentage for hike in the fare which would now be sent to the government for approval of the cabinet.

Addressing the transporters, Navin Choudhary said that government is keen to address all the genuine issues of the transporters operating in the state and many steps have already been taken in this regard.
