Srinagar: Protests erupted in Ahgam, Shopian after forces allegedly beat up three youth without any provocation on Wednesday morning.

Reports said that scores of people took to streets against the army for beating up three youth identified as Mohammad Shafi Lone, Abdul Majeed Ganie and Bilal Ahmad.

“The trio were going towards their orchards when army caught them and beat them up without any provocation,” Mohammad Akram Lone, father of Mohammad Rafi Lone one among the youth who were beaten up by the army said.

Now we are not even safe in our own localities and cannot visit our orchards, he said.

When this report was filed, the protests were going on in the area.

Meanwhile, despite repeated attempts army spokesperson could not be contacted. However, an officer based in Shopian said that army was verifying details. (GNS).
