LEH, JUNE 10: Member Parliament Ladakh, Thupstan Chhewang today chaired a meeting of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) to review the physical and financial achievements under various centrally sponsored schemes in Leh district.

The meeting was attended by the Minister for Ladakh Affairs and Cooperative Chering Dorjay, Executive Councilor for Agriculture Tsering Wangdus, Executive Councilor for Tourism Tsering Sandup, Executive Councilor for Animal and Sheep Moumtaz Hussain, Councillors Phyang Punchok Dorjey, Councilor Martselang Jamyang Tsering, Councilor Chushul Konchok Stanzin, all the HODs headed by Deputy Commissioner Leh Avny Lavasa and representative from Women Alliance Leh.

While reviewing the performance of MGNREGS, the meeting was informed that in 2017-18, huge number of assets including bridges, water reservoirs etc were created in the district for which a total of Rs 2750.78 lakh was released out of which Rs 2745.69 lakh was expended. Besides, the department needs additional Rs. 11 crore for work done liabilities.

Under UIDSSMT in Leh town, the Minister for Ladakh Affairs and MP took serious note for delay in the completion of Swerage Treatment Plant, Solid Waste Management Project, roads and poor progress on roads under PMGSY since few years despite timely release of funds and directed SE PWD Leh to take legal action against contractors and submit a report to DC, Leh in next three days.

Inquiring about the dumping of pipes near Shanti Stupa by PHE Division in huge numbers without use since three years, the Minister directed DC Leh to constitute an inquiry committee to investigate the maater and also directed SE PWD to give details about the fee given to the consultant engaged for Open Stadium Leh.

While discussing about the projects under AMRUT scheme in Leh town, the meeting discussed in detail about the upcoming multi tier parking facility at Leh.

Reviewing performance under NHM, the Minister directed CMO, Leh and Construction Division Leh for earliest completion of Dialysis ward of SNM Hospital Leh so that four numbers of Dialysis machine could be installed which will benefit patients of Leh immensely.

Discussing about the ongoing social security schemes under NSAP in the distinct, the Minister and MP directed DPO, ICDS Leh and District Social Welfare Officer Leh for conducting resurvey of eligible unmarried poor girls in the district and countersign the lists by concerned Councilors and Nambarders so that deserving girls could get benefits of State Marriage Assistance Scheme (SMAS).

While reviewing the progress of drinking water schemes under NRDWP, Executive Engineer PHE informed that in 2017-18, a total of Rs 1067.10 lakh was released for ongoing 26 WSS out of which Rs 834.84 lakh was expended till date.

Chief Agriculture Officer, Leh giving detail progress report of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana said that a total of Rs 218.26 lakh was released in 2017-18 out of which Rs 81.50 lakh was expended.

AD Food, Supplies and Consumer Affair informed the meeting that under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), a total of 1142 applications was received out of which total 698 beneficiaries were issued free gas connection.

While reviewing Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojna, PMDP Rural and Saubhagya schemes which aims to electrify every village of India by 2019, the Minister and MP and directed engineers of PDC and PDD for resurvey of all the un-electrified villages and hamlets properly.

MP Chhewang also took a detail review of funds released from his MPLADS and directed all the concerned officers and engineers to ensure timely and proper use of the funds and completion of projects in time.

Other CSS including RURBAN, PMDP, SSA, RAMSA, Mid Day Meal and Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme were also reviewed in detail.
