World Environment Week celebrations continue at KU

Srinagar, June 7: Faculty and students of the Tourism Department at Kashmir University on Thursday organised several events in connection with the World Environment Week celebrations. The theme of the events was–‘Beat the Plastic Pollution.’

Coordinator, Tourism programme, Dr Shahnawaz A Dar, spoke about the importance of environment for the humans and small environment-friendly steps that all individuals can take for conservation of environment. He urged the participants to avoid using plastic items like disposables and polythene and spread the same message among their families and the society.

Tourism faculty members Dr Riyaz and Dr Aijaz also spoke on the theme and urged people to make efforts at their individual levels to preserve the natural resources for future generations.

Students of MTTM (2nd and 4th semester) discussed ways of dealing with the problems created due to unfriendly environmental practices. The students later held a cleanliness drive which was followed by an environment awareness rally. A plantation drive was also conducted.
