Srinagar, Jun 07: Even as the traffic in south Srinagar city remained chaotic since past evening, it came to a grinding halt Thursday afternoon due to security arrangements for Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s visit here.

The roads leading to Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Complex at Wazir Bagh were sealed as the Home Minister was to attend the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Conclave 2018 organised by the State Sports Council.

The vehicles were checked by forces at Rambagh intersection before being allowed to pass which caused a massive traffic jam.

The traffic jam spread to areas like Gojgi Bagh, Mehboornagar and Jawaharnagar Bunds, Jawahar Nagar, Batamaloo, Rambagh, Lasjan, Hazori Bagh, and adjoining areas.

Traffic cops are seen trying to ease the traffic, but like always, without much success.
