Dr. Farooq Abdullah attends BB Cant Board Meeting

Srinagar: National Conference President and Member of Parliament for Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Abdullah on Thursday attended a meeting of the Badami Bagh Cantonment Board in Srinagar and reviewed ongoing developmental works as well as various public grievances.

Dr. Farooq Abdullah reviewed the issue of the GB Pant Hospital Dispensary where the Board-operated dispensary had provided two rooms to the Hospital to effectively meet the challenges during the floods but the two rooms haven’t been returned to the dispensary till date – affecting its operations and causing inconvenience to the people.

Dr. Farooq Abdullah also sought an update on the dilapidated infrastructural condition of the Government High School, Batwara where the unsafe boundary wall was a cause of concern for the safety of the students.

Dr. Farooq Abdullah said there should be no unnecessary and unreasonable restrictions on civil and commercial constructions in the BB Cant Board Area. “If young people want to make guest houses or properly planned and permissible commercial establishments – they should be facilitated as this would generate jobs and become sources of livelihood for the locals”, Dr. Farooq Abdullah said.

The National Conference President and Member of Parliament for Srinagar also sought the upgradation and macdamization of main roads and internal roads in the area. Dr. Farooq Abdullah also expressed concern over the inordinate delay in road works due to pending drainage works in the area and said these should be expedited.

Dr. Farooq Abdullah said he would raise these issues with the Government and seek an early and timely redressal of these grievances.
