Four injured in Jammu grenade attack

Srinagar, Jun 02: Militants carried out three grenade attacks in different areas of Srinagar on Saturday which left four paramilitary personnel and four civilians injured.

During the day, a grenade was hurled at paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)  personnel at Fateh Kadal area of old Srinagar, leaving three forces’ personnel and three civilian including a woman injured.

According to reports the grenade was lobbed at CRPF’s 82 battalion deployed in the area.

The area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers, reports said.

A police spokesperson said the injured were shifted to hospital for medical treatment. He said all the injured have received minor injuries and are stated to be stable.

The injured were identified as ASI Rambachan Yadav, Ct. Tarak Math Gosh, Ct. Krishna Ram Yadav (All 82 BN CRPF), and civilians Ghulam Mohammad of Kawdara, Abdul Majid of Safa Kadal and Taja Begum wife of Gh Qadir Ganie of Razdan Kocha Fateh Kadal.

In the evening, a paramilitary trooper was injured after unknown militants lobbed a grenade on a CRPF bunker at Budshah Chowk, Srinagar, official sources said.

A civilians was also injured in the attack, they added.

Injured CRPF personnel was identified as Ct. Davinder of D company 132 Bn and injured civilian was identified as Abdul Rashid Mir resident of Gurez.

They were shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.

Third grenade attack was carried out at IR 6th Battalion guarding PCR at Magarmal Bagh area of Srinagar, official sources said.

The grenade exploded outside the sentry post and no one was injured in the incident.

The official said the area has been cordoned off and a manhunt has been launched to nab the attackers.

One more grenade was lobbed at Mominabad in the outskirts of Batamaloo area of Srinagar. However the attack was not confirmed by the official.

Yesterday also, militants carried out four grenade attacks in Srinagar, Anatanag and Pulwama, including at the residence of ruling PDP MLA Mushtaq Shah, leaving six people injured.

Jish owns Fateh Kadal, Badshah Chowk attacks 

Srinagar: Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) on Saturday claimed responsibility of two grenade attacks on forces at Fateh Kadal and Badshah Chowk Srinagar.

JeM spokesperson in a statement issued to GNS said that as part of “Operation Badr”, Jaish carried out the first attack at Fateh Kadal in which several forces were injured. “Jaish-e-Mohammad cadres also carried out the attack on CRPF at Badshah Chowk in which several CRPF troopers were injured.”
