Javaid Mustafa reviews water supply scenario of Chadoora constituency

SRINAGAR, MAY 30: Minister for Disaster Management, Relief Rehabilitation and Reconstructing and Floriculture, Javaid Mustafa Mir today directed officers of PHE Budgam to provide adequate drinking water supply to populace of the Chadoora constituency.

He said this while chairing a meeting of officers of PHE department of district Budgam to review the water supply scenario of the Chadoora constituency.

The meeting was attended by SE Mechanical Rashid Ahmad, ExEn Mechanical Din Mohammad, EXEN, GR Laherwal, EXEN Basharat Kawoosa, AEE Lalnagar Iqbal Mustafa, AEE Mechanical Budgam Muneer ur Rashid Mir, AE Lalnagar, Zubair Naqash and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.

During the meeting officers informed the Minister that out of 37 villages of the constituency 12 villages receive round the clock pure drinking water supply while the remaining village receive water supply according to a given schedule.   Minister was informed that the left-out villages have been proposed under Greater Chadoora plan to cover and upgrade the existing requirement.

Officers further informed due to growing population in the area and the growing requirement is being compensated and proposal has been made in this regard to cover under different schemes.

The meeting was also informed that internal pipeline network has developed leakage at several places due to the old and rustic pipeline network in the area and is lying defunct at several places; despite the department is providing water supply through mobile water tanks in these areas while the department is working to fix defunct pipeline.

Moreover, to cater these left-out areas, minister was informed that same will be connected through Nawhar pipeline and work on other water supply schemes and pumping stations are going on swiftly and the same will be completed in a stipulated timeframe.

The Minister exhorted upon the concerned officers to work in synergy to finish all the pending projects and ensure the safe and clean water is supplied to the population. Besides, the Minister said that the defunct pipeline should be replaced to provide adequate water supply in these areas.

Later, the Minister also convened a meeting with DC Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Dar to review the cases of left-out flood victims of September 2014 floods. The Minister directed the DC to submit the details of left-out cases which will be taken for their early disposal.
