Syed, a permanent resident of  Asnoor Watoo Kulgam, was not at the residence of his relatives when militants attacked and took away the rifles.

Syed told GNS that he is outside state accompanying his mother for treatment.

Syed said that he was associated with PDP till May 2017 and left the party on observing that it is “a family affair”.

Syed said that he is Secretary with Jammu Kashmir Bachao Tehreek party and not Awami National Conference as suggested by certain media reports.

Syed said that he has received life threats on many occasions and has also survived a militant attack at his residence at Asnoor Watoo Kulgam in 2015.

Meanwhile, sources said that Hizbul Mujahideen has released the picture showing the rifles which were snatched from policemen at Draban.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and have launched investigations into it

“Police has learnt that from the residence of a protected person at Dabran Anantnag two weapons have been taken away,” a police spokesman said.

The PSOs were from security wing and Kulgam police respectively. The circumstances of the weapon disappearance are being investigated. The Protected Person was apparently not present at his house. Police have registered a case and investigation has started, he said.
