Sat Sharma reviews pace of UEED works under state sector, allied schemes

SRINAGAR, MAY 24: The Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Sat Paul Sharma today said that the Officers should work in synergy to ensure that the programmes undertaken in the UEED sector are completed within the stipulated time.

The Minister was addressing a meeting to review works of UEED under state sector, AMRUT, Mega sewerage schemes and new mega schemes in the state.

The meeting was attended by Financial Commissioner HUDD, Director Finance, HUDD, Special Secretary, HUDD, Commissioner SMC, Chief Engineer UEED, Superintending Engineer UEED, Executive Engineer UEED, Joint Director Planning and other officers were present on the occasion.

It was informed in the meeting that 12 schemes under state sector are being executed in twin capitals and other towns of the State at an estimated cost of Rs 296.32 crore, besides six new projects are underway for execution in the State during current financial year. Besides under AMRUT, six schemes including sewerage and septage are being executed worth Rs 108.49 Crore in the Srinagar, Anantnag Town and Jammu city, which will be completed by March 2019.

Likewise, two Mega Sewerage schemes for Jammu and Srinagar are being executed by NBCC that are funded under JNNURM, of which 75% of work has been completed so far, officers informed.

Officers further informed the Minister that to cover the remaining parts of the Srinagar and Jammu city several new projects are also in progress which have been approved by the GoI.

Furthermore, it was informed in the meeting that two sewage schemes for greater Srinagar zone 3rd are coming at the cost of Rs 153.30 crore and the invitation of fresh bids are in process while the work is in progress on Rs 129.24 crore sewerage project in Jammu.

AMRUT being part of the smart city program, the Minister exhorted upon the officers to work in coordinated manner to meet the deadline.

To provide proper scientific disposal of sewage, the Minister directed officers to pace up the work to complete all remaining works under AMRUT schemes in the state.
