Medical Colleges to have B-Pharma and D-Pharma courses soon: Dr Manyal

SRINAGAR, MAY 22: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Dr Davinder Kumar Manyal today said that government will soon start B-Pharma and D-Pharma courses in Medical Colleges of State for the benefit of students.

The Minister was chairing a meeting to review the functioning of the J&K State Para-medical Council (SPMC) here today.

Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education Pawan Kotwal, DG Health Services Kashmir Dr Saleem ur Rehman, Director Health Services Jammu, Principals of GMC, Jammu and Srinagar and other senior doctors and officials were present in the meeting.

A detailed discussion was held on the overall functioning of the SPMC. While addressing the officers, he said that the infrastructure in these institutions should be developed as per the norms and guidelines of the Medical Council of India.

Dr Manyal assured the officials that Government will provide full support to establish proper infrastructure in Medical Colleges including laboratory, library, faculty, accommodation, medical equipment and other necessary facilities for the smooth functioning of the institutions.

The Minister was apprised about the working of medical colleges, besides methods of teaching employed by them. The meeting was further informed about online registration of Diploma/Degrees of various paramedical streams, dual Council Registration by different paramedical institutions, revision of application fee for the establishment of new paramedical institutions, hospital training of students in Govt hospitals etc.

The Minister called upon all the officers to put on their best efforts to further improve the functioning of this important sector which is responsible for producing the quality manpower for Government and private health institutions. He said that government won’t compromise with the quality of education as today’s students are an asset of future in whose hands lies the nation’s health.
