Rural areas being provided connectivity at par with cities: Dy CM

RAJOURI MAY 20: The Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta today said the government is providing road infrastructure and bridges in rural areas at par with the cities to boost the Socio-economic development of populace living in these areas.

He was addressing a mammoth gathering after inaugurating newly constructed  24 Metre long Sodhara bridge. Completed at cost of Rs 6.18 Cr by Border Roads Organisation, the bridge will connect Sunderbani with Nah, Seri, Beripattan, Peli, Sayal, Mankota, Baja Baein and a dozen of other LOC villages.

Present on the occasion were MP Jugal Kishore, Vice Chairman of OBC welfare board Rashpaul Verma, MLA Nowshera Ravinder Raina, DDC Rajouri Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, SSP Yougal Manhas, ADC Sunderbani Gurmukh Singh, Chief Engineer SAMPARK P K H Singh apart from District and Sectoral Officers of the District.

Terming the roads and bridges as foundation for carrying out other developmental works, the Dy Chief Minister said the government is committed to provide a state of art road infrastructure in all three regions of the state. He said laying of foundation of Rs 6809 Cr Zojila tunnel and other major projects by PM Narendra Modi the other day bears the testimony that the government is meeting its commitment. He said the present dispensation is working as per agenda of alliance which is actually the agenda of development of all regions of the state.

While complimenting the BRO for completing the bridge well before the deadline, he called upon the concerned to further strengthen the road connectivity in LOC villages for ease of carrying out rescue operations during cross border shelling. He urged the Chief Engineer SAMPARK to activate men and machinery to upgrade and maintain the roads in border districts. “As SAMPARK is mandated to develop, maintain and upgrade  the roads in border areas, I hope the chief engineer will put in extra efforts to meet its responsibility” the Dy CM asserted.
