Ramazan moon sighted, holy month to begin from May 17

Srinagar: Ramadhan will begin on Thursday in Jammu and Kashmir as the moon marking the beginning of the holy month has been sighted.

The grand mufti of Jammu and Kashmir, Mufti Bashir-ud-Din said in a statement that the moon has been sighted and the holy month will begin tomorrow.

Earlier, Pakistan also announced the sighting of the moon.

The holy month will also begin in Arab world tomorrow.

On the outset of the holy month of Ramzan, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has felicitated people of the State while appealing them to seek blessings, forgiveness, peace and an end to violence during their prayers.

In her message on the occasion, the Chief Minister hoped the holy month marks the beginning of an era of peace, free from bloodshed and acrimony. “I pray that this holy month brings along all the divine blessings for our state and its people”, the Chief Minister prayed in her message.
