Rajiv Jasrotia directs JKPCB to shift to online system

SRINAGAR, MAY 16: In order to increase transparency in the working of Jammu Kashmir State Pollution Control Board (JKPCB), Minister for Forests, Ecology & Environment Rajiv Jasrotia today directed the Board to shift to on-line system at the earliest.

The Minister while chairing a review meeting of the Board said that innovative measures need to be taken to achieve the goal of clean and green state.  While reviewing the status of issuing NOCs to the aspiring industrialists in the State, the Minister directed the concerned to immediately shift to on-line system to ensure transparency. He also directed for regular inspections of industrial units to ensure they adhere to proper norms.

He said that infrastructure needs to be strengthened for achieving tangible results in a time-bound manner.

While reviewing its functioning, the Minister said that JKPCB is directly connected with the health of the people; therefore, the functionaries of the organization must put in their best efforts to achieve the objective of clean and green State.

He called upon the functionaries to ensure complete transparency, accountability and efficiency at all levels in the Board, and improve the delivery system on the ground.

Stressing on the need for close coordination between various agencies to achieve the common goal, Jasrotia said that collective efforts between the departments like industry, local bodies, and transport can ensure better and quicker results.

The Minister said that the State is endowed with a diverse range of forests and varied landscape ranging from sub-tropical, sub-temperate and temperate to cold desert. He said that the landscape is dotted with various types of meadows, lakes and water bodies and this pristine ecosystem needs to preserved at all costs.

Chairman JKPCB B Siddhartha Kumar, Regional Director Kashmir JKPCB Dr. Syed Nadeem Hussain, Environmental Engineer JKPCB J N Sharma, Legal Advisor JKPCB M M Shah and various other officers of the department were also present in the meeting.
