SRINAGAR, MAY 16: Minister for Finance and Labour & Employment, Syed Mohammad Altaf BukhariWednesday inaugurated an organic food store at Jawahar Nagar.

Principal Secretary Finance, Navin Kumar Choudhary, Commissioner Secretary Agriculture MD Khan, Chairman JK Bank Parvez Ahmad, Managing Director of the Organic Food Store, Rohit Gupta were also present on the occasion.

The Minister appreciated the efforts of the private firm in making available much needed organic food to the people of the valley.

He said investing in production of organic food at the time when rampant use of fertilizers have taken toll on the health of people, will go a long way in going back to the old tradition of using organic foods and producing the same in the local market.

He hoped and wished that more such initiatives are taken which can boost the rural economy and at the same time provide good health. He said the popularity of organic food will make the farmers to opt for organic farming and avoid use of toxic fertilizers that will be good for health as well as to our economy.

He urged the farmers to grow more and more organic produce which will be not only marketed by the private firms but the government will also encourage such initiatives.

Principal Secretary, Finance Navin Kumar Choudhary also appreciated the efforts of the private firms in promoting organic food in the state and providing farmers an option to grow organic food that can be marketed well by these private firms.

Chairman of J&K Bank Parvez Ahmad while speaking on the occasion mentioned the importance of organic foods and appreciated the efforts of private firms including Sarveshwar Group under leadership of Rohit Gupta to make Organic products available to the people of Kashmir.
