Srinagar, May 12: A young boy was killed on Saturday after lightning struck him near his home in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The deceased was identified as Muzaffar Ahmad, son of Mohammad Wali, of Brari Angan village of the district. Two other youth standing near him escaped unhurt, but fell unconscious, reports said.

Meanwhile a woman was injured during windstorm in Baramulla.

Reports said that house of one Farooq Ahmad Hajam was damaged by gusty winds in Syed Kareem Baramulla. His wife sustained injuries and was shifted to district hospital Baramulla for treatment.

They said that three more houses were damaged at Syed Karim and Trikanjan Boniyar areas.

At many places in Baramulla and Sopore towns, trees was toppled and many vehicles damaged after trees fell on them. The windstorm also damaged rooftops of houses and electric transmission lines in the area.
