KULGAM, MAY 12: District Development Commissioner Kulgam, Sajad Hussain Ganie, today inaugurated the district-level inter-zonal football championship organized under the centrally sponsored ‘Let’s Play Khelo India’ scheme aimed at the development of sports and grooming of sportspersons, including boys and girls, under the age of 19.
District Youth Sports Officer Kulgam, all Zonal Physical Education Officers, Physical Education Masters and Teachers and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
As many as 18 teams of Kulgam, Devsar, DH Pora, HC Gam, Quimoh and Yaripora educational zones are participating in the championship. The first match was played between Devsar and HC Gam zones in the age groups of 6 to 12 years.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that Kulgam has huge potential in sports arena due to abundance of talented sportspersons. He said that the need of the hour is to channelise it in a positive direction. DDC urged the school going students, to participate in sports activities for better mind and body. He assured them of all possible support from the district administration.
