It has called upon the state and central governments to stop viewing Kashmir through the prism of law and order problem only and tackling it with heavy military might. It has termed the increasing trend of youth joining militancy as worrisome that needs to be handled politically rather than militarily.

It is even more alarming that highly educated and employed youth too are resorting to guns for expressing their sentiments and seeking justice due to diminishing faith in the state and its political establishments further emphasizing the fact that Kashmir issue is a political issue that needs political intervention and not an issue of unemployment or economic packages, the statement said.

“It is high time the government engages in sincere and meaningful negotiations with all stakeholders for resolution of the Kashmir issue,” it said.
