NC committed to upholding the rights, dignity of people: Sagar

Srinagar, May 02: National Conference general secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar on Wednesday said the party was committed to upholding the rights and dignity of the people and would continue to fight for the interests of the state.

Welcoming social and political activist, Gulrez Mushtaq into NC at a function organized at party headquarters in Srinagar, the NC general secretary said the current political dispensation at the helm of affairs posed numerous challenges to the state’s unity, integrity and political identity.

Gulrez Mushtaq, who is the grandson of renowned Sufi figure from Kashmir Late Ahad Bab Sahib, joined NC on this occasion and pledged to work towards strengthening the party at the grassroots level, NC press release said.

Gulrez Muhstaq has an MBA from Cardiff Metropolitan University and has worked in London and Dubai before returning to Kashmir.

Speaking on the occasion, the Sagar said the party was open to youngsters who wanted to serve the people of the state and would empower them to fight the myriad challenges state is faced with.

“As more and more dedicated, well-meaning and competent young faces continue to join the party, we are going to reach out to the youth and take them on board to evolve solutions to the political, social and economic problems the state is faced with. I welcome Gulrez Muhstaq to National Conference and wish him the best in his endeavour to serve the people”, the NC general secretary said.

Speaking on the occasion, Gulrez Mushtaq reposed also his faith in the party and said NC has a “glorious and valiant history of fighting for the rights and interests of the people” and it is this goal that he would nurture and contribute towards, the press release informed.

NC provincial president Nasir Aslam Wani, party leaders Chaudhary Muhammad Ramzan, Muhammad Akbar Lone, Muhammad Sayeed Akhoon, Qaiser Jamsheed Lone, Javed Ahmed Dar, Salman Ali Sagar, Showkat Ahmed Mir, Sardar Jagdish Singh Azad besides various leaders of the party’s youth wing were also present on the occasion and welcomed Gulrez Muhstaq to the party, the press release said.
