Jammu, May 2: Two persons were arrested and 56 kg of poppy was seized in separate incidents in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, the police said today.

A police party intercepted a truck on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway and found 46 kg of the contraband inside the vehicle, they said.

The truck driver managed to escape from the spot, the police said.

In another incident, a truck was intercepted in Chenani area and 10 kgs of poppy was seized upon searching the vehicle.

Its driver Talib Hussain and conductor Sonu were arrested, the police said.

FIRs have been registered in both the cases, they added.
