Suspected militants kill three in Baramulla

Baramulla: Suspected militants this evening shot dead three persons in Iqbal Market at old town Baramulla.

The slain persons have been identified as Asger Sheikh, Haseeb Khan and Asif Sheikh.

A police spokesman said that preliminary investigation revealed complicity of LeT in the case.

“One Pakistan based and two other local militants of old town Baramulla, wanted by law, are the principal suspects in this case,” police said, adding, investigation into the matter have been started.

While identifying one of the militants, police said that one of the militants involved in the shoot-out is Shoiab Akhoon, who had gone to Pakistan on a legal visa but returned as a trained “militant.”

The police said that Akhoon’s visa was assured by Hurriyat Conference; however, they didn’t spell out which faction of Hurriyat it was.

Meanwhile, a police spokesman today said that militants this evening shot down three persons in Iqbal Market at old town Baramulla.

All the three persons were fired upon from a very close range.

The slain persons have been identified as Asger Sheikh, Haseeb Khan and Asif Sheikh.

The spokesman said that the preliminary investigation reveals complicity of LeT in the case. One Pakistan based and two other local militants of Old Town Baramulla are the principal suspects in this case and wanted by law. Police has started investigation into the matter.
