DDC Rajouri visits LoC villages to address people’s issues

RAJOURI APRIL 30:  District Development Commissioner, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary today conducted an extensive tour of villages along Line of Control to assess the developmental demands and review ongoing works as well as security scenario.

The DDC, accompanied by Ex En PHE Nissar Khan, SDPO Manjakote Dr Imtiaz Hussain, BDO Abid Hussain and field officers of various departments, visited Peryali, Chamba, Mandain, Naika, Panjgrain and Kundi Nakka villages in Panjgrian panchayat. He interacted with local people and listened to their  demands which were mostly related to water, power supply, road connectivity and education sector.

The locals sought development of Peryali top for tourism, informed  about drying up of natural water resources, demanded upgrading of road connectivity, adequate staff in schools and other related issues.

The DDC issued directions for construction of two missing links with border road and PMGSY road to benefit the population of Peryali and Panjgrain by providing a shortest alternative link. It was also decided in the meeting to develop  12 water resources in the catchment area which will include construction of reservoirs and installation of hand pumps for providing water supply to adjoining hamlets. Forest Department was asked to formulate a proposal for Peryali top which has huge potential for Eco-Tourism.

The DDC also visited the adjoining hamlets to inspect the houses damaged in 2014 floods with the rehabilitation work still pending. Taking strong note of pendency, the DDC directed revenue staff to prepare a list of all the affected families within 48 hours. He assured that all the affected families  will be rehabilitated and rehabilitation work will be started within one week, which will involve re-construction of houses to be completed in a month. He also met with some mine victims of the area and directed revenue staff to prepare a detailed list of injured persons so that they can be given compensation.

Later, the DDC inspected Government High School Niaka Panjgrian. The school headmaster Mohammad Hanif informed  about the requirements of the institution including repair of damages. The DDC directed concerned officers to   prepare a DPR for early start of the repair work.

The DDC also inspected some works constructed by RDD in the area.
