On WVD KVK-Ganderbal reaches a tribal village

Ganderbal: To Commemorate World Veterinary Day, 2018, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Ganderbal today organized a day long programme for Tribal farmers at Dignibal – a tribal village of Ganderbal District where besides scientist-farmer interaction, awareness session, on spot treatment of animals and distribution of different inputs was done.

World Veterinary Day that is being celebrated last Saturday of each year was celebrated by the Kendra in the backdrop of its this year’s theme: “The role of the Veterinary Profession in Sustainable Development to improve livelihoods, food security and safety.”

Dr Parvaiz Ahmad Reshi, Subject Matter Specialist, KVK-Ganderbal, SKUAST-Kashmir, in his address impressed upon farmers to follow latest scientific techniques of profitable livestock farming.

He outlined the importance of scientific feeding, breeding and management of livestock in the socioeconomic upliftment and livelihood generation of tribal farmers.

Dr Shahid Rasool, Scientist (Agri Science), Faiqa Sayeed, Programme Assistant (Fisheries), KVK Ganderbal threw light on the integrated farming system for maximum profitability from limited land resources.

Area specific mineral mixtures developed by SKUAST-K for supplementation of Valley animals was also distributed among the farmers free of cost.
