NIT Srinagar alumni meet held

SRINAGAR, APRIL 28: The National Institute of Technology Srinagar today held its third alumni association meeting at its Hazratbal campus here.

Some 250 alumni accompanied by their families from various parts of the country and abroad attended the association meeting.

The meet also saw the presence of Director IT Delhi V. Ramgopal Rao who was the chief guest and K. K. Sharma, former secretary MHRD and M.J.Zarabi, former chairman Board of Governors NIT Srinagar, who were the guest of honours on the occasion.

In his address, Prof. A. A. Mir, president alumni association, highlighted new initiatives taken up by the association for the development of the alumni community and in assisting the students achieve their goals in career.

Director NIT Srinagar Dr. Rakesh Sehgal while speaking on the occasion said the alumni association has also facilitated formal agreements between NIT Srinagar and IIT Delhi and Jammu for faculty exchange, research and use of one another’s academic and other facilities.

He acknowledged what he described as invaluable contribution of the alumni and felicitated the golden and silver jubilee batches of 1968 and 1993 with trophies and also announced sightseeing excursions to Gulmarg and Tulip gardens for their families.

The occasion also saw an exhibition of rare postal stamps and paintings organized by Associate Professor Physics Dr. Seemin Rubab.
