BANDIPORA, APRIL 29: Minister for Public Works, Naeem Akhtar Saturday visited Bandipora and addressed a function of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan here. He also took stock of ongoing work on Sumbal-Bandipora road.

The District Development Commissioner (DDC), Bandipora, Khursheed Ahmad Sanai, Superintendent of Police, Assistant Commissioner Development, officers and a large number of people were present on the occasion.

The Minister said educated youth need to build consensus as to how they can rebuild their villages on modern lines. He directed DDC Bandipora to adopt at least two villages as model villages and ensure availability of all civic facilities there. For this, the Minister announced every possible help from his constituency development fund.

He said that nature has bestowed the district with natural resources like Wullar and Nallah Arin water bodies and it is we who need to protect and sustain them for future generations.

Earlier, the Minister took stock of progress on Sumbal-Bandipora road and directed the concerned executing agency to speed up the work. He was informed that pre-macadamization work on Safapora to Ajas patch is in progress at a cost of Rs 18.4 crore and macadamization work shall start in May, while as work on Ajas-Sunerwani stretch costing Rs 23.33 crore has been approved for which tenders shall be floated in May 2018.
