Srinagar, Apr 27: Police today claimed to have arrested a man in Uri sector near the Line of Control (LoC) and seized 800 grams of brown sugar from him.
“Ahmad Teehkray was arrested from Jabla with the brown sugar which had been smuggled from Pakistan via the LoC,” police spokesman said in a statement here.
“A case under section 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against Teehkray and an investigation launched,” a police spokesman said.
“In the last few months, police has apprehended number of such drug smugglers from the area and some of them have also been booked under the Public Safety Act,” he said.
