“A group of three to four militants believed to be the infiltrators returned the fire ensuing a brief exchange of gunfire”, the agency quoted official sources.

A senior army officer based in north Kashmir told GNS that the movement of the infiltrators was challenged by the forces after they tried to sneak in.

“A heavy exchange of gunfire reported for some time and searches would be carried out at the crack of the dawn,” the officer said.

There is a possibility that one infiltrator might have been killed and it would be known after searches will be conducted tomorrow, reports said.
