Srinagar: Forces on Thursday fired in the air to chase away protesters who pelted them with stones near Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora.
Sources said that youth hurled rocks at the army men who were repairing some cables.
They said that army fired in the air to chase away the protesting youth. However, the protesters didn’t relent and kept re-grouping.
Later, police and paramilitary forces fired tear gas to disperse the protesters, triggering further clashes.
