Srinagar: One person was arrested and some arms and ammunition recovered from his car in Kulgam district today.

Sources identified the arrested person as Dr. Ajaz Rasool, son of Ghulam Rasool of Khrewan Malpora Kulgam. They said he is being questioned.

The sources further said that the said doctor was on way home when at Khanabal Chowk a militant carrying a bag stopped his car (Echo Sports) bearing registeration number JK03E 7572 and boarded the same.

A naka party of security forces stopped the car near Mir Bazar Anantnag falling under police jurisdiction of Kulgam, said the sources, adding, the militant escaped leaving the bag in the car.

One AK 47 rifle, two AK magazines and one pistol with magazine were recovered from the bag, sources added.

Meanwhile, a police spokesman said that at a naka point at Al stop in Mir bazaar the naka party intercepted a vehicle which was searched.

During search one 9 mm pistol with one magazine and one AK 47 with two magazines were recovered from the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle has been taken into custody. Police has started investigation into the matter, the spokesman said.
